"Show us your 'Ag'" Photo Contest Rules

Show us your ‘Ag’ Photo Contest by Bioenterprise Corporation (“the Sponsor”).

Contest Rules:

How to Enter:
Contest opens July 19th, 2009.
by October 18th, 2009 11:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.  

No purchase necessary.
Submit original, digital photo(s) by email to: contest@bioenterprise.ca , attaching up to 5 photos.  Photo(s) must be sent with the following information: name, email, address, age, and image title. 

The files must be no less than 1 MB minimum and no more than 5 MB maximum. Image quality: High. 

Entries that are enhanced using a photo editor are acceptable. 

Ideas of what to snap:
Agriculture is everywhere, and it’s progressive.  Be as creative as you want. 

Suggested shots can include:
 

  1. “Ag” at its Finest
    Pictures of people, animals, crops, seeds, machinery, and landscape.
  2. Progressive “Ag” The science side of Ag.  Processes, equipment, inventors and innovations. Shots of the future of agriculture, alternative energy, biofuels, forestry.
  3. “Ag” Enhanced
    For those who use editing programs to enhance their photos.

Who Can Enter:
Contest open to legal residents of Canada.  Must be 18 years of age or older, or have written consent from a parent or other legal guardian.

Entry Requirements:
Entrants can only submit photos they have taken.  Photographers must get consent of people or property featured in all photographs submitted.  Photos must be of agriculture in Canada only.  All photos submitted become the property of the Sponsor.  Entries will be limited to five (5) photos per entrant. Entries that do not comply with contest rules will be disqualified.

Prizes:
There is one Grand Prize available to be won, consisting of a cheque for $500.00 (CDN.)  plus a Lowepro Orion Trekker II camera bag in black/grey (The roomy upper compartment has a generous mesh pocket, 2 digital memory pockets, a large zipper pocket that’s perfect for holding an MP3, Mini Disk or CD player and a headphone cable. The lower compartment has a removable insert made of high-density, closed-cell foam with movable padded dividers and soft, brushed-tricot lining to protect delicate LCD screens from scratches and dust. Grand Prize has an approximate total value of $620.00 (CDN.)

There is one First Prize available to be won, consisting of a Canon Camera Kit which includes a Canon PowerShot SD900 digital camera (compact metal camera with 10 megapixels and 3x optical zoom), a Canon SELPHY CP740 personal photo printer (prints 4x6 photos in seconds), and an Optex Camera Pouch (red). 
First Prize has an approximate retail value of $480.00 (CDN.)

There is one Second Prize available to be won consisting of a cheque for $200.00 (CDN.) plus, a Black’s Prepaid Digital Prints photo card for up to 200 4 X 6 pre-paid photos.  Second Prize has an approximate total value of $250.00 (CDN.)

There is one Third Prize available to be won consisting of a cheque for $100.00 (CDN.)

There are six Honourable Mention Prizes available to be won. 
Each Honourable Mention Prize will consist of a cheque for $75.00 (CDN.)

There are 2 additional Prizes for participants age 18 and Under only. 
Each 18 and Under prize will consist of a cheque for $50.00 (CDN.)

.Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash.  Prizes stated as cash will be presented in the form of a cheque.  No substitutions except at the Sponsor’s option.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with one of equal or great value.  Prizes will be mailed to winners. Any taxes on a prize will be the sole responsibility of the winner.  If the winner is a minor in his/her province or territory of residence, such winner’s parent or legal guardian must accept the prize on his/her behalf.

Contest Winner Selection Process:
A panel of judges has been selected by the Sponsor based on their knowledge of Canada’s agriculture through travel, industry or their camera lens.  The panel will judge the photos based on composition, creativity, relevance to agriculture and technical proficiency.  A grand prize, first, second, third prize and other prizes will be awarded in the opinion of the judges for the highest, second-highest, third-and fourth highest ranking photos along with honourable mention and 18 and Under prizes as set out in the description of prizes. Decisions of the judges are final. 

Odds of winning the contest depend on the number and caliber of entries received.

Category winners will be contacted by email by November 18th, 2009. 

By accepting a prize, winners agree that their respective photos become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.  Winners grant the Sponsor the right in perpetuity to publish and use winning photos as is or as may be edited in Sponsor’s sole discretion, accompanied by winner’s full name and city of residence in any advertising and promotion by the Sponsor without further compensation, including but not limited to Sponsor’s website, promotional materials, or brochures.  Selected winners agree to assign all intellectual property rights including copyright, and waive all moral rights in and to the photo in favour of the Sponsor.

General Conditions:
Contest judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.  Selected winners (or winner’s parent or legal guardian if a minor) will be required to sign and return in standard Declaration, Liability and Publicity Release, confirming compliance with all contest rules, releasing the Sponsor, Camera Canada, Lowepro, and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, and the contest judges, from any and all liability arising directly or indirectly from this contest, participation in contest related activities, and awarding of a prize, and the use or misuse of any prize..

By entering the contest selected winners agree to comply with these official contest rules and agree to publication, reproduction, and/or use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the contest, and/or personal photograph or other likeness without further compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast, or the internet.

The Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, postage-due, delayed, or illegible entries.  Without limitation, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies if any, and the contest judges will not be liable for the failure of any entry or photo to be received. 

The Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw or amend this contest in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these Rules.  Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such as attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.  The Sponsor, reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind without prior notice or obligation.

By entering this contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing, and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry only for the purpose of administering the contest.

The contest is not open to employees of Bioenterprise Corporation, its representatives or agents, the contest judges, or members of their respective immediate families.
