Programs

Education and collaboration are an important part of the innovation mix. By fostering continued learning, presenting new and interesting opportunities to gain hands-on experience and creating invaluable industry connections, Bioenterprise is helping grow a new generation of agri-entrepreneurs.

Bioenterprise is continually launching and enhancing current programs, courses and resources to help guide and inspire anyone interested in pursuing a career in the progressive field of agri-innovation.

Bioenterprise Global Network

Networking and relationships play an integral role in the business development and commercialization process. For an aspiring entrepreneur, making those connections is a time-consuming endeavour and Bioenterprise understands time is a precious commodity. Our network of science advisors, mentors, entrepreneurs, professionals and investors puts experience, guidance and expertise at the hands of agri-innovators.

Entrepreneur Reality Check

After working with Bioenterprise for approximately four to six months, our clients participate in a reality check. This informal think-tank session is designed to identify strengths and weaknesses of the entrepreneur's business plan. The discussion panel is comprised of a select group of industry experts who will apply their knowledge and expertise to strengthen the entrepreneur's position and ensure they are prepared to hit the ground running.

Enterprising Student Placement

This is an opportunity for soon-to-be grads or new grads. This placement gives first time entrepreneurs a start in their career by allowing them to develop their skills while working with us and/or our clients. The Bioenterprise Team works on a variety of projects, each with different goals.

Aspiring Entrepreneurs Course

Defining business opportunities, market analysis, sales and marketing are all integrated into our Aspiring Entrepreneur Course. Designed to provide a solid understanding of the commercialization of agri-businesses, participants also benefit from the guidance and expertise of Bioenterprise mentors. This course is currently offered through the University of Guelph.

Mentor Match

As a mentor and coaching program, Bioenterprise connects established and successful business professionals with budding entrepreneurs. Mentors come from all industries bringing both general business knowledge and specific industry experience to the table. They are carefully selected based on their expertise in relation to the entrepreneur's area of innovation.

Student Entrepreneurial Experience

This hands-on program offers a variety of co-op placement positions designed to give applicants a first taste of employment in the agri-technology field. Junior Business Analyst and Market Research Assistant positions are currently offered. By creating these opportunities, Bioenterprise provides important work experience to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Agri-Business Immersion Study

This independent study course is project-based and involves working on a specific task or project as identified by Bioenterprise. Participants gain a valuable understanding of a particular aspect of the industry while acquiring experience developing resources that help build business for Bioenterprise entrepreneurs.
