Bioenterprise Corporation Receives 2017 Premiers Award

Guelph, ON – Bioenterprise Corporation was awarded a Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence in a ceremony held on December 8, 2017 in Cambridge, ON, for the creation of the AgRegKit, an agricultural regulatory resource for entrepreneurs.

The Premier's Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence recognizes producers, processors, agri-food organizations and rural communities in Ontario, for their innovative contributions that improve existing products, create new jobs and grow Ontario's economy.

The new software tool is offered to Bioenterprise’s clients and serves as an educational resource for businesses in the agriculture, agri-food and bio-based markets, while providing a simple, cost-effective way to develop a regulatory strategy.  By simplifying the path to regulatory approval, the AgRegKit saves innovators time and money. As a result, it ensures that more, great agri-food innovations make it to market, faster.

ARK Award2“We work closely with companies to help advance their innovations to market and it was clear to us there was an opportunity to help navigate the challenging regulatory hurdles and red tape,“ says Dave Smardon, President and CEO for Bioenterprise.  “We are grateful to be receiving this award as it validates the importance of creating this valuable tool for the ever-growing and innovative agri-tech sector.”

“Year after year, these awards showcase outstanding individuals across the province whose innovative ideas are helping grow Ontario’s agri-food sector for today and tomorrow. I’d like to congratulate this year’s recipients and thank them for their commitment to strengthening Ontario’s world-class agri-food sector and positioning our province for continued economic growth,” says Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

“We would like to thank those involved in the creation of this product including developers, JRS Virtual Studios as well as Norton Rose Fulbright for their intellectual property services,” says Jennifer Kalanda, Marketing Manager for Bioenterprise, who was in attendance to accept the award.

The AgRegKit is delivered by Bioenterprise in collaboration with members of the Agri-Technology Commercialization Centre, including Ontario Agri-Food Technologies and Oilseed Innovation Partners. This project was funded in part through Growing Forward 2 (GF2), a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. The Agricultural Adaptation Council assists in the delivery of GF2 in Ontario.
